188Re-Rhenium Colloidal Sulfide is a treatment used for isotopic Radiation synovectomy (large-size joints).
188Re-Rhenium Colloidal Sulfide is the 188Re analogue of 188Re-Rhenium Colloidal Sulfide used in the treatment of rheumatoid mono- or oligo-arthritis. The 188Re derivative is involved in large-sized joints (such as knees) while 188Re is more appropriate for mid-sized joints (ankles, wrists). It is also useful in the treatment of hemophilic or chronic arthropathy associated with articular chondrocalcinosis. The suspension is injected in each painful joint which is kept in a fixed position for a few hours or days to avoid the escape of the radioactive substance from the injected joints. The reduction of extra-articular escape is the major issue in this modality but is now well controlled.
Target/Mechanism: Brachytherapy
